Gulfport PAL and the over 1000 youth it serves citywide are grateful for the support and guidance we receive from our partners. By supporting their organizations, you are also supporting the overall effort in improving our communities and providing youth with a positive outlook for the future. Only with your support of Gulfport PAL and our partner organizations can we work together to make a better Gulfport for all of us.


The Gulfport Police Athletic League is a 501(c)(3) Mississippi nonprofit organization which was incorporated in 2001.
Gulfport PAL is comprised of thousands of children throughout the City of Gulfport. Gulfport PAL has implemented a variety of activities around the City of Gulfport to engage youth in positive, wholesome and character building activities in well-supervised and safe settings.

Hook A Kid On Golf

Hook A Kid On Golf and National PAL have created a partnership to help each PAL chapter incorporate a comprehensive youth golf program into their sports curriculum. Hook A Kid On Golf offers several golf components that each chapter will be eligible to coordinate. With continued support from the United States Golf Association each PAL chapter who chooses to coordinate a Challenge Golf League will be eligible for funding.

The cornerstone of the Court TV and National PAL partnership is the introduction of network’s Choices & Consequences video and lesson plan curricula into the 350 PAL chapters across the country – where close to 2 million youth will benefit by the interactive learning experience.

In partnership with USA Boxing, National PAL currently runs one of the three most successful national amateur boxing events in the country. Young men are given the opportunity to earn a spot on each Olympic team - National PAL is proud to have been represented by four young men who competed at our national championships on the 1996 USA Olympic Boxing Team

As the first national advocacy group created for this purpose, USA Football focuses on building coalitions, advocating positions and causes, identifying best practices and standards, aggregating resources, and promoting the sport. USA Football believes that the well-being of the sport depends on a broad appreciation of the game, excellence in coaching, an emphasis on safety and health, high levels of youth participation, and collaboration with the many partner organizations involved in amateur football.

National PAL is pleased to have a Youth Football Partner in the NFL. Year after year the NFL awards thousands of dollars of grant monies to local PAL’s through the NFL local agency grant. National PAL and the NFL have teamed up to provide numerous opportunities to youth through both tackle and flag football programs.

 

National PAL and the NHL have partnered on a cost effective program that introduces kids to hockey. The NHL Street program is an indoor/outdoor hockey program that his played in tennis shoes. National PAL is enthusiastic about the opportunity to bring street hockey into our centers nationwide.

The Gulfport School District is a partner by allowing Gulfport PAL to use schools during the summer time to hold “Summer Camps” for the youth of Gulfport. The Gulfport School District also participates as a partner by Central Middle School and Bayou View Middle School being involved in an after-school programs covering career development, sports and tutoring. The site at the Gulfport Middle Schools were used as a national model for other after –school programs.

The Harrison School District is a partner by allowing Gulfport PAL to use schools during the summer time to hold “Summer Camps” for the youth of Gulfport. The Harrison School District also participates as a partner by North Gulfport 7th and 8th Grade being involved in an after-school programs covering career development, sports and tutoring. 

     

 

- Starting in the summer of 2008 Gulfport PAL introduced Badges for Baseball into its summer camps.  Badges for Baseball is a cooperative effort between the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation, the Mississippi Attorney General Office, and Gulfport PAL.  Participants are exposed to the  unique coaching style known as "The Ripken Way".
